HBO to Give 3 New Films for Viewing on Public TV

The idea, according to Chris Albrecht, chairman of HBO, is to make the series of films on topics of public interest - biological warfare, genocide and AIDS - available to a much wider audience.

...so that they can "scare the crap out of them."

Seriously though, HBO original programming is consistently superior to regular tv. Offering some of it on public television will give people who wouldn't otherwise see HBO movies a chance to see that tv can be truly engaging and even relevent. It will also expose people to some of the excellent programming on public tv that goes largely unwatched. The full article is located here.
